The Academic & College Advising Center at All Saints is an integral component of the academic curriculum in the Upper School. Our goal is to develop a culture whereby students are mindful of their academic path, achievement record and extracurricular depth. Anyone who walks the halls of the Upper School will see distinctions of a true college preparatory school.
It takes five years of preparation for a class to be adequately prepared. Starting in the spring of a student’s eight grade year, families first engage in individual conferences to plan a proper academic path based on teacher recommendations and prior test scores. From there, a host of programs interwoven into the academic program slowly brings to light topics of SAT/ACT test preparation, resume building, college exploration through class trips, and essay writing strategies, among others. The college advising curriculum at All Saints is dynamic, taking into account the collective needs and strengths of a class, ensuring that students and parents are fully informed and prepared for that time when an application is sent to a potential colleges, that the documents are a true representation of a student’s potential.
Learning occurs throughout the five years, so much so that students have a confidence about the steps they need to take their senior year. What we see is obvious growth culminating in success stories at the end of the process.
