Christian Education in the Lower School is separated
into three main areas: Faith Formation in the 1st-4th grades, and
5th grade and 6th grade participating in separate sections of VVI
for Christ (Roman Numerals for 5 and 6). Faith Formation in the
1st – 4th grades is led by led by Denise Jarrett who is not
only a parent of two All Saints students, Rachel and Mic, but is
also an active member of Christ Episcopal Church and sits on the
vestry there.
As the title implies, these classes are to help with
the formation of our students’ faith. We are using a curriculum
called Living the Good News based on the Episcopal lectionary that
involves reading scriptures and activities related to that lesson.
“VVI” for Christ” is the Christian
Formation for grades 5 and 6. It is a program created by two of
the staff members of Christ Episcopal Church who incorporate games
and other initiatives (as well as study and discussion) in order
that students come to have a better understanding of their role
in community as God’s people. The Director of Children’s
Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church, Anne Spear, leads the 5th graders,
and the Middle School Youth Director at Christ Episcopal Church,
Bobbie Schroeder, works with the 6th graders. Every fifth and sixth
grader has “VVI for Christ” once a week.
